The Florida landscape provides endless inspiration for my paintings and drawings. Since 1995, I have been producing large scale oil paintings and vine charcoal/pencil drawings using tropical vegetation for subject matter. However, my focus is about edges and the space in between. Clarity of focus in regard to line, shape and color only help to depict the realism I create. Therefore, my paintings become personal vignettes which are magnified and monumentalized through size and composition. Pristine simplicity, because of lack of living creatures, time of day and place, make way for direct enjoyment of the visual surface beauty. For me, creating in Florida extends an immediate luxury of tropical vegetation and visual abundance.
